I feel like even increasing the resolution could change the way the game looks. The sprites might not scale the same way. It might reveal more flaws than were apparent on the Saturn and PSX.

It's hard to say because we don't have many high res emulator screenshots. Games from that era are very rarely re-released with simple HD remasters. Usually they do a full remake when they go back as far as the 5th console gen. Dreamcast is usually the absolute limit. I just hope they don't force you to play with texture filtering or whatever. Maybe emulated screenshots of like, Dragon Quest IV and V on the DS might be a good indicator of what we're getting here.

I am 100%, totally down for this. I've played both several times and have beaten them over and over again, but they are wonderful RPGs that I would love to have on the go, when the possible?drought of games may potentially happen, or when the Switch is being outmoded by whatever comes next and I just want a machine that has a lot of great games on it around. I really hope that this also serves as a great exposure to the series for new fans to pick up and love. Along with Lunar and Suikoden (pour one out for both!), this is one of those RPG series that just never managed to get a foothold past the PS2 era, despite having a hardcore cult following.
